THIS IS A POEM ABOUT HEMINGWAY AND PREGNANCY BACK BRACES AND DEFUNCT TYPEWRITERS 8.29.17

Hemingway says

to write, all you have

to do is sit at the typewriter

and bleed. I’ve not found

this to be true. I write with

a pink pregnancy back brace

wrapped around my midsection

because my lower vertebrae are

giving out. I sit for hours

and nothing happens,

no genius

no blood.

And I don’t use a typewriter.

I have two that are defunct;

there’s a metaphor in there

somewhere.
