THIS IS A POEM ABOUT MISCONCEPTIONS AND RHINORRHEA AND TOWERS OF WORDS 1.2.18

1.2.18

Life is rife with
misconceptions.
Example:
men with severe
rhinorrhea often
look like compulsive
masturbators.
What is the moral
here? Judging books
by their covers? I suppose,
unhelpful though, since
no book in the history
of written language
has lived up to its cover.
Ah, there’s the moral. As
a species we have become
masterful cover makers
and horrendous originators
of substance. I just glanced
to the top of this tower of
words to remind myself
what this poem was even about.
Apparently, like most things
in my life, it starts and ends
with masturbation.
