THIS IS A POEM ABOUT HORMONES AND TRAGEDIES IN BARS 9.13.17

9.13.17

Sitting at a bar

this lady sat

next to me

with three children

and her husband

and her sister

and I heard

her say, I

think it’s a

hormonal thing, each

morning I start

the day off

by saying, Stabilize

Janet, stabilize yourself,

your hormones, anxieties

center yourself and

your life will

quit falling to

pieces. Her oldest

son ordered a

chicken wrap with

crispy bacon, while

her youngest had

his face absorbed

into a screen.

Her husband and

her sister both

seemed quiet in

the face of

inappropriate tragedy. The

husband spoke only

to the oldest

son, he said:

Tell me about

school, how are

your teachers? The

son said, Good.
