what others see
my eyes do not
and not for lack
of trying.
in closing
we embraced
and i stared at
decoration
placed on shelves,
the skulls of beasts
and vertebrae
of whales
ignoring
other senses
in favor of
macabre
remembrances
and remains
of creatures
just like us
who for lack
of bedrooms
coalesced at
watering holes
and who committed
to the orgy
of the world
their bones.
what have we
to offer?
what have
we.
